Scott Dickinson '85 writes: "I'm still living in Tampa with my wife Pam and two boys Matt, and Shaun. Matt (15) and Shaun (12) are both on Ice Hockey travel teams (of all the sports in Florida) and Pam and I spend most of our weekends around the state in cold, dark, damp hockey rinks! My exercise these days revolves around triathlon training, where I compete at the half-ironman distance. You can imagine that the hockey and training keeps me quite busy.
"The family is really looking forward to my 20th Yale reunion next May as we make our trek back to New Haven for the class of 1985. I have also enjoyed recently catching up with Alex Diekman '85 who's out in Montana with his family, as well as Anne Eason (Philipot '86) who also resides in Tampa with her husband Ben and their three girls."

"Penny Scarborough and I were married on October 18, 2003 in Wilmington, DE. We originally met in high school (through swimming, naturally) and re-connected a few years back. We now live in West Chester, PA with our two cats. I work for Gartmore Global Investments, an investment management company owned by Nationwide Insurance. Penny is a Bucknell '95 grad and works in MBNA's Treasury Department.
"In my spare time, I am a consultant for the MBA Exchange, where I help guide prospective business school students through the admissions process, from assessment (deciding whether and where to apply) all the way through strategy and positioning. I am a big believer in the service, and would suggest any Yale swimmers who are interested in applying to a top 20 MBA program next year visit the website and feel free to contact me (stephen_m_johnson@hotmail.com) with any questions!"

"My wife, Audrey, and I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan, which is a great place to live. We had a daughter, Mia, in October 2003. We both work as medical doctors at the University. I wish everyone well."

Kristen Krebs '93 writes:
"Hope all's going well with everyone! I feel compelled to make comments regarding last edition's claim that Arge O'Neal '90 invented MTV Dance Party and Southern Fried Rock.
"While there is no doubt of the lasting impression on young Yale Swimming souls of Mr. Arge O'Neal, I must credit The Woodman '93 for creating the first MTV Dance Party. The Class of '93 and older will attest to the O'Neal-legend of parties such as "The Irish Wake." Additionally, those events in the then-Morse Annex whose titles were lost, but held enduring images include: "The Electrical Fire Doused by Beer" and "The Stair-Railing Torn-Away by a '90 Member, then Used as a Jousting Tool." Who among us could forget the "glotis" progeny: "Papa- and Epiglotis"?
"All of these searing experiences (imagine Mr. O'Neal standing up in the Morse Dining Hall and publicly dying in order to promote his Irish party, then later that evening lying in a make-shift open wood casket sipping a beverage through a straw....) indeed directly inspired the next generation of social events after Mr. O'Neal's departure from the University.
"The 'MTV Dance Party' - I believe - was one of the earliest known events to involve both the capture of the Yale Swimming social scene on video technology and frequent visits to the Salvation Army behind Chapel Street to find inspiration for (in)appropriate attire. Brett Holleman '95's first-edition Air Jordans with football jersey is but one memorable fashion moment that stands out in my mind..."

"I recently returned from a 2 month expedition adventure for National Geographic to be release in July - a DVD set that you can buy on their site and on other online book vendors. The program is called National Geographic Explorer, and I think I will be on the cover of the DVD set. That's all for now...off to New Haven for reunions!"

Jennifer Renzi '94 writes:
"Just had my 10-year reunion, where I saw classmates Alexis Claiborn '94 (just bought a house in London, but we're still going to try and get her back to NYC sometime soon), Lyn Askey Jutronich '94 (still at Princeton Review, renovating houses, etc), Kathleen Hughes '94 at that point 8.95 months pregnant (had a girl, Ruby!), Kiki Malsnee '94 (about to get married, just graduated from med school, moving to Boston area), Nikki Herron Kolhoff '94 (with her cute and very well-behaved baby girl!), Nikki Gross '94 (opthalmologist in New York), and Eva Zakrzewski Moore '94 (still modelling-acting-tutoring in Orange County).
"Really, the big news to report is that my parents just installed an Endless Pool (like a mini flume) at their beach house in NJ. (Rest assured that I will be using it for cooling off while sunbathing, rather than for getting my swim on). One night my mom and I were watching the promotional DVD, and who should pop into the screen? None other than our own superstar Nicole Molzahn DeBoom '94! She said something like, "I love my Endless Pool!" and then hopped in the pool and started swimming. Then hubbie Tim DeBoom was featured, too.
"Also, news on others: Alissa MacMillian '95 just finished grad school, Suzanne Heizer Needham '96 just had me over to her Jersey City digs for fireworks, and Fran Gambetti '94 and I have been playing an extended game of phone tag."

Jason Rosenbaum '95 writes:
"Heather and I are proud to announce the birth of our son, Max, who was born in Los Angeles on November 18th and weighed in at a muscular 8 pounds, 11 ounces. We recently took him to Florida to meet Ted Stedem '95's new son, Teddy IV (a.k.a. "T-Puppy"). The boys both loved the water - when Max gets in he moves his arms and legs as fast as he can. Also like his old man, after five minutes he's had enough of the pool and cries. Chip off the old block."

"Here's the news from San Francisco: Jay Li Kostal was born on 2/23/03 and joined our family on 12/1/03, when Ina and I traveled to Shanghai, China to adopt him. He is now just over 15 months old and happy and healthy. He has been an absolute joy in our lives. Ina is still working as a geriatrician at On Lok, a senior health care plan in San Francisco. I am finishing my second year of internal medicine residency at UCSF. I have agreed to stay an extra year as a chief resident, so we'll be here at least until July 2006. Despite talking about it, I have still not joined a masters swimming team here in the city."

"I moved to Boulder, CO in February for a job at The Princeton Review. I'm following in Lyn Askey '94's footsteps, as she manages our office in San Diego. I'm looking forward to seeing her this summer in Cozumel for a company meeting!
"I also just returned from Molly Drehs '97's wedding in Kentucky. She and her husband, Rudy, make a great couple and can cut a rug like you wouldn't believe. I was lucky enough to see Stephanie (Mulazzi) Ruiz '97 and her husband Juan at the wedding too.
"The only other swimmer I know who's out here is Topher Nichols '96, but he won't return my calls..."
[Editor's note: Topher is a neurology resident at Children's Hospital in Denver, but he won't return my calls either.]

"After graduating with my MBA from Duke, my wife Angie and I moved back to New York City about a month ago and are living on the Upper East Side. I'm working for Clear Channel Entertainment in marketing, and she is seeking a marketing position. It's great to be back in NYC and we're looking forward to seeing all of the Yale swimmers in the area soon hopefully."

This from Ruth Arris, long-time partner of John Barbie '98:
"John and I are now married as of July 10th. We got engaged in mid-July up in Saratoga and after a little day-dreaming of wedding grandeur and satin gowns I suggested to John that we get married spontaneously and sooner rather than later since all our family members were going to be in the Northeast at roughly the same time (a feat since some live in CA and others in Costa Rica).
"I am happy to say that the wedding went off with only one hitch when our dog Spot voiced his objection of our union to the Judge. Also, when my grandfather asked John "so, do you feel any different now that your married?" he said 'Yup, now I have to wear women's jewelry.'"

Jeremy Fain '99 writes:
"I have finished my first year at Columbia Business School where I am the editor of our poorly written business newspaper, and I am now finishing up a summer internship in brand marketing at the Independent Film Channel here in New York. I have started coaching for my Masters team, the Red Tide (www.redtidenyc.org). If any masters swimmers are ever in New York looking for a good workout, just check the website for practice times and drop in. We recently took 44 swimmers to the National Short Course Championships at the Natatorium in Indianapolis in March. I finally got back down to my lame pre-college times, swimming a 21.63 in the 50 free and various other times in various other events that need not be reported. I almost had the chance to swim against and trash talk Gary Hall, Jr., but he got scared and didn't swim against me in the 200 medley relay. I also beat him in the 100 IM because he got DQ'ed for an illegal turn.
"My sister Emily Fain '02 is currently doing a summer marine biology internship on cuttlefish (look it up!) in Woods Hole, MA. She calls me every Saturday to rub in the fact that she is lying on the beach. If anyone is on the cape this summer, look her up.
"I had fun seeing '99 classmates Jemal Smith, Kate Ivers, Christina Rhee, and Heather Erickson at our 5th year reunion, and am now gearing up to go to Australia for a month-long scuba/surfing/dining adventure with my girlfriend."
|

Christina Rhee '99 writes:
"I love reading about what everyone's up to! Here's a picture of a few '99ers who showed up to the 5-year reunion: Heather Erickson '99 recently moved to Syracuse after a stint in San Francisco and welcomes any visitors who "get lost in upstate NY." Kate Ivers '99 is in Chicago working towards her law degree at Loyola. Jemal "Skippy" Smith '99 is in Vegas (Baby!) working with his diving team, acting as a stuntman in a pirate show at Treasure Island, and preparing to become a monk at the end of the summer (he won the unofficial "most changed lifestyle" award, hands down).
"On May 29th, I ran my first marathon in Traverse City, MI (my sister Leslie Rhee '96 came out from Philly to cheer me on - lots of fun!). Other than that, I'm keeping busy at the University of Michigan working on my PhD in Education and Psychology."

"I missed the Reunion, but I have some good news to report. After my clerkship is finished with the State of Florida Court later this year, I have accepted a job working as the Deputy Solicitor General for the State of Florida. As one of four Deputy SG's, I will be handling high-level civil appeals in which the State arguing before the Florida Supreme Court. So my good news is about the new job, but with that comes the bad news that I'll have to live in Tallahassee a few more years..."

Dan Schinnerer '00 writes:
"Things are going very well, but it is going to be a very busy summer. After working as a grad assistant for the last year at University of Michigan, I was recently hired as the full-time, head assistant under new coach Bob Bowman. Bob will be taking over from Jon Urbanchek after this summer's Olympic Games. Right now, I am working with Jon to prepare our guys for the Trials in a month. If all goes well, we should have a few swimmers on the team.
"In addition, I got married in a private ceremony this past December to Lesia Bilak, whom I met while teaching and coaching at The Peddie School. We are having a church wedding later this summer for family and friends."

Lisa Sweet '00 writes:
"Alison Durley '00 got married to Ken Deem this past April in St. Louis. The wedding was an absolute blast, complete with the typical outrageous behavior you'd expect. The mix between the Yale Swim team (Jon Malpass '00, Lindsay Wolter '00, Lisa Howie '01, Merrill Dobson '01 and me) and the Dartmouth Crew team (the groom was a rower in his past life) proved to be a good recipe for fun.
"The post-reception party featured trampolines, huge stone turtles and heated political discussions (fortunately, three pounds of bacon at brunch the next morning helped ease the pain and bring back the memories). The day after the wedding was spent at Alison's father's house with a fiercely competitive game of croquet. Malpass was a tough officiate, Merrill was a pro, and I ended up playing the course backward to set the game on a level playing field...
"Dr. and Dr. Deem will begin their residencies at Dartmouth this summer.
"We also ran into Brendan Mulvey '99 at Alison's NYC bachelorette party earlier in the year, but I'll withhold publishing stories of that episode to protect the innocent."

"My news is that I am going to Greece this summer for the Olympics again - last one. I have been swimming a few mornings a week while running my family's restaurant in Saratoga, NY, and made the cuts last summer at Pan Am Games, with best times somehow. I qualified in the 100 free (50.1 relay split) and the 100 back (57.1). We'll see how things go. I expect ex-Virgin Islands national team coach Chris Bradford '00 to show up for a cameo in Greece, and anyone else who happens to be in the neighborhood."
